Korelasi Indeks Massa Tubuh dengan Usia Menarche pada Pelajar Sekolah Menengah Pertama Katolik Pax Christi Manado

Background: Menarche is the first menstrual period in a woman. This event is an important indicator of reproductive health. Globally, the age of menarche has been declining, including in Indonesia, which ranks 15th out of 67 countries with a decrease in the age of menarche by 0.145 years per decade. This is thought to be due to a decrease in nutritional status which can be assessed by the Body Mass Index (BMI) parameter. Objective: To determine the relationship between Body Mass Index and age of menarche in seventh grade students of Pax Christi Catholic Junior High School Manado. Methods: This type of quantitative research is analytic observational with cross sectional design with purposive sampling technique and research instruments to determine the characteristics of respondents and measurement of height, weight. and measurements of height, weight. Results: Of the 95 research samples, menarche occurred at the age of 8-12 years with the highest age of menarche at the age of 11 years, namely 37 students (38.9%). Analysis with Chi-square obtained a p-value = 0.033 (p ≤ 0.05). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between Body Mass Index and age of menarche in seventh grade students of Pax Christi Catholic Junior High School Manado.
