Hubungan Kesejahteraan Psikologis dengan Kualitas Hidup Pasien Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2 di Poliklinik Penyakit Dalam RSUD Kabupaten Talaud

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that can affect the sufferer’s activities both physically and psychologically. Quality of life is an important factor that can influence a person’s health condition. Poor quality will further worsen the condition of a disease, and vice versa, a disease can cause a decrease in a person’s quality of life, especially chronic diseases which are very difficult to cure. Psychological well-being plays a role in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus and can extend the life expectancy of sufferers. Purpose: to determine the correlation between psychological well-being and the quality of life of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. Method: quantitative descriptive research method using a cross-sectional study approach. The total sample of 88 respondents was taken using purposive sampling technique. The data collection instrument used the Riff’ Psychological Well-Being (RPWB) and Diabetes Quality of Life (DQOL) questionnaire and met the sample inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: The results of the Spearman’s rho statistical test of the correlation between psychological well-being and the quality of life of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients obtained a significant p-value of 0,01 < a (0,05). The statistical test result of the correlation coefficient is 0,923 in the range of 0,76-0,99 with a very strong level of correlation and a positive direction of the correlation. So H0 is rejected and the alternative hypothesis Ha is accepted. Conclusion: there is a correlation between psychological well-being and quality of life in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
