Background: Head trauma patients are at risk of experiencing a decline in quality of life due to residual physical and psychological symptoms after hospital discharge. Discharge education is an essential step in preparing patients for independent care at home. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of discharge education on the readiness for discharge among head trauma patients. Method: The study used a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-post test approach without a control group, involving 12 respondents treated in the surgical inpatient ward at Prof. Dr. R. D. Kandou General Hospital, Manado. The instrument used was the Readiness for Hospital Discharge Scale (RHDS). Results: The results showed a significant increase in discharge readiness scores after the discharge education intervention, from a mean of 86.75 to 147.3 (p < 0.001). Conclusion: This improvement indicates that structured and personalized education can enhance patients' understanding, coping abilities, and physical and psychological readiness for home care. Discharge education is proven to be effective in supporting the discharge readiness of head trauma patients and in preventing post-discharge complications.
